Laying Laing to rest
THE thanksgiving service for broadcaster, cultural activist and musicologist, Keith Anthony ‘Tony’ Laing, takes place tomorrow at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St Andrew.
The service starts at 10:00 am.
Laing died April 13 at the St Joseph’s Hospital in Kingston. He was 68.
For decades, the outspoken Laing was an unapologetic advocate for copyright reform in Jamaica. He also worked on cultural events during his time with the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) and hosted the popular Laing And Company show on Power 106 radio station.
Laing suffered a debilitating stroke in 2006 which impeded his movement.
The JCDC will produce a tribute show to Tony Laing this evening at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in St Andrew.
