Bolt named third most influential athlete in US
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Usain Bolt was named the third most influential athlete in America, behind two US athletes Tim Tebow and Michael Phelps.
Tebow, an American football quarterback, won the poll with 29 per cent of respondents considering him the ‘most influential’, according to Forbes Magazine.
Phelps, who has the record for most Olympic gold medals at 18, placed second with 25 per cent with triple world record-holder Bolt third on 23 per cent.
Baseball player Derek Jeter and Peyton Manning, another football player, complete the top five.
Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas, basketball player Lebron James and soccer veteran David Beckham also made the top ten.
The survey was conducted by Nielsen and E-Poll Market Research and reflects the top ten professional athletes with the most influence among US fans.
