J’can BMX rider for T&T showdown
Garnet ‘Glorider’ Lopez, Jamaica’s finest BMX freestyle rider, has been invited by the Trinidad and Tobago BMX Freestyle Association (TTBFA) to compete in the twin-island Republic’s Third Edition of the Monster Energy Freestyle Exam, scheduled for the Jean Pierre Complex in Port Of Spain on Sunday, May 26.
The contest will run from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm Eastern Caribbean time and will feature some of the world’s best athletes from Hungary and the USA.
Since its inception, the event has been Trinidad and Tobago’s leading BMX Freestyle contest and this year it has opened its doors to the Caribbean community in an effort to help to develop BMX Freestyle in the region among other positives.
In terms of the format for the contest, there will be a BMX Flatland and Park Contest with cash and prizes to be won. There will also have guest appearances from pros on the Monster Energy International BMX Freestyle Team.
Lopez is the lone Jamaican travelling to compete in the Trinidad and Tobago BMX contest and his trip is being sponsored by the TTBFA.
Lopez will leave Jamaica on Saturday May 25 and return on May 28. While in Trinidad, he will compete against riders in the one-day tournament from some other countries from the Caribbean Community among them hosts Trinidad and Tobago, St Martin, Barbados and Aruba.— HURBUN WILLIAMS
