One dead, four injured in Santa Cruz crash

SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth – Police say one man is dead and two people have been hospitalised after the vehicle in which they were travelling overturned at Longwood just outside Santa Cruz early Saturday.

The deceased has been named as 30 year old Garnett Mendez of Brighton District, close to Santa Cruz.

Reports say a Hyundai motor car with five people aboard was travelling towards Santa Cruz at about 3:00am when the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned.

All five were rushed to hospital where Mendez later succumbed. Two others were admitted while the other two were treated and released.
