Hit or Miss: Love yourself – Mr. Vegas
MR Vegas has been an overtly underrated artiste within contemporary Jamaican music. He has managed to infiltrate successfully dancehall, reggae, and segments of both the reggaeton and hip-hop respectively, but still lacks his just due locally.
Following his successful Sweet Jamaica album, Mr Vegas has slowed down the tempo from his currently bubbling single Party Tun Up (Whine Up), and released Love Yourself.
Love Yourself can be found on Troy McLean’s Selection Riddim, and is a standout on the vintage reggae production.
The song serves as an inspirational number, highlighting the importance of self-love, self-respect and high self-esteem. Mr Vegas cautions listeners that people must love themselves before attempting to love another. Not doing this he warns, will lead to the inevitable end of any relationship.
Love Yourself is a great addition to Mr Vegas’ discography, and we hope that it doesn’t get lost within the flush of dance songs ushered in for the summer.
