Mavado teams with American rapper Jadakiss on Just Like Magic
DANCEHALL star Mavado has teamed up with American rapper and former Lox member Jadakiss for the track Just like Magic.
The bubbly mid tempo reggae/R&B joint is quite catchy and Mavado’s easily recognisable hooks coupled with Jadakiss’ booming toasting create a recipe for success.
Just Like Magic was produced by Musical Masquerade, a New York-based Jamaican, who has been fusing reggae with different musical elements.
“It’s always a great pleasure working with people who are professional and who aim to make the best music. The collaboration came about from an idea to blend the powerful, unique and unmistakable voices from reggae and hip hop and put them together on a reggae track. From there we reached out to the respective camps, so much respect to Skeng and Gullyside Mansion, We the Best Family and to Gusto and D Block for seeing the vision,” Musical Masquerade explained.
Just Like Magic is the second release from Musical Masquerade’s forthcoming project Elements of Reggae. The first single No other Like You by Rayvon featuring Red Fox has been creating waves topping several playlists and reggae charts worldwide.
Said the producer, “Elements of Reggae aims to showcase our Jamaican music in different elements.”
Just Like Magic is now available in iTunes. The track has been serviced to radio stations locally and overseas. The response to the track has been positive with key industry personnel predicting that it could become a major hit.
The promotional machine behind Just Like Magic is about to get cranking. A music video is on the cards and servicing to urban radio in North America and Europe has begun.
