J Rich spreads Love and Joy

Catch Di Riddim

TORONTO reggae rapper J Rich hopes to make a favourable impression on Jamaican fans with Love And Joy, a song he recently recorded with singer Warrior King.

The 22-year-old, who was born in Canada to Jamaican parents, is currently in the island promoting the single.

He is banking on Love And Joy to give him a foothold in the Jamaican market.

“This is a song which is lyrically inclined to spread the universal message of love and joy. What’s the sense if we ain’t got love for each other?” he reasoned.

Love And Joy was produced by Jam 2 Productions. Warrior King spoke about his role in the project.

“When I got the track my manager Steve Henry told me to write about love and joy and it was a good fit with J Rich’s concept. We decided that a roots rhythm would effectively carry across that message,” he said.

J Rich says he was bitten by the music bug as a teen when he joined a group called Block 13 Kidz. After going solo, he released his debut single, It’s a Block Thing.

Among his other releases are Tell the Brothers and Stand Up.

Last Saturday, J Rich performed at the University of Technology’s African Liberation Day concert in St Andrew, alongside Warrior King. The following day he performed at the Sugar Minott memorial concert.

Ranco gets personal on Mama son

Deejay Ranco has released the video for his latest song, Mama Son. Filmed throughout Kingston, it was directed by Darrendee Digital.

According to Ranco, “Mama Son is about my journey within the music industry.”

Apart from Mama Son, Ranco has been busy working on various projects including a song with deejay Chico.

“I spend a lot of time in the studios working on my music and I am hoping to release new songs which are now being fine-tuned,” said Ranco.

Surgikal goes liquid on new song

Surgikal lifts his glass to the greatest resource on his new song, Come Fi Di Wata.

“One morning I was in a restaurant just chilling after having a meal and the idea came to me to do a summer song. I asked myself, ‘what’s the one thing that people always need when the time is hot’ and right there I knew the song had to be about water,” he said.

Come Fi Di Wata is a joint venture between Surgikal and Social Yaad Media.

A video for the track is scheduled to be completed in June.
