No kidding around
THE son of comedian Apache Chief has joined his father’s former sidekick in the new comedy act, Apache Kid and Sarge.
The gig is not new to Apache Kid, as he and Sarge have been performing together for the past year.
Sarge and Apache Chief were a longrunning comedy team. The latter died in July.
Having watched his father at work over the years, 22 year-old Apache Kid says it is only natural he followed in the ‘old man’s footsteps.
“It’s a part of my personality. it was always in the pipeline for me to do comedy,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
Apache Kid started out as a deejay in the mould of satirists like Professor Nuts, but says the plan was to one day join his father on stage.
In fact, they did a few shows together.
Born and raised Garnet Allen in Spanish Town, Apache Kid says there was always laughter in his home. By his teens, he had chosen a career.
“I don’t go to football matches or cricket, I watch no form of sport. Just music and comedy… straight,” he said.
Apache Kid is part of the Comedy Cafe’s island-wide tour which started at the Famous nightclub in Portmore in July.
