Caribbean Model Search on Sunday
MORE than 100 supermodel hopefuls will take the stage at the Caribbean Model Search (CMS) scheduled for Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston, St Andrew, on Sunday.
Staged annually by Pulse, the contestants will be vying for the titles Jamaica Fashion Model, Male Face of Jamaica, Jamaica Petite Fashion Model, the Full Figure Fashion Model of Jamaica, and an opportunity to become global supermodels.
Kingsley Cooper, chairman of Pulse, said this year’s crop represents Jamaica’s diverse ethnic groups.
“This year’s group is a great combination of different hues and races,” he said.
“There is also energy, passion and ambition. While none of these are new, there is an abundance of all these attributes well above the level usually seen at this event each year. Because of this, patrons can expect fierce competition between the contenders and particularly outstanding winners, ” he continued.
Last year’s winners were Sashauna Robinson — fashion model; Kenny Wilson — male face; Shantel Minott — plus size model; and Jheanell Nesbeth, petite model.
Interestingly, several of Jamaica’s supermodels, who previously participated in the region’s biggest and most respected fashion event, did not win the competition, but nonetheless went on to phenomenal success.
This list includes Vogue cover girl Lois Samuels, international modelling superstar Jeneil Williams, Carla Campbell and Nicole Gray.
Entertainment will be provided by dancehall act Popcaan.
