In the midst of the fashionable headlines, runway shows and exclusive after-parties generated by NYFW, the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel was popping champagne for its own celebration. The Knutsford Boulevard landmark — one of the sites for SO’s photo shoot — turned 40 last Thursday. Officially declared open in 1973 by the late statesman David Coore, the Pegasus has seen several iterations (and owners) in its life span. Today, the hotel is owned and operated by the Hendrickson family who have begun a chic makeover on the famed property that has already the uber-fab Blend Bar+ Lounge and Twenty-Four Seven Café. Raising champagne toasts to the Pegasus’ next 40 years, Kate Hendrickson (second left), director of projects joined (from left) Nicola Madden-Greig, group director of marketing and sales; Sheldon Seymour, operations manager and Prudence Simpson, director of sales to celebrate the milestone.
