High School Attended: Immaculate Conception High School
Year Started: 1989

teenAGE: Do you remember the feelings you had the first day of high school?
KM: Jitters for sure. It’s a big campus, and during orientation I was given a tour of the compound with my parents. I distinctly remember the Music House (Ms Gordon was playing the piano at the time) and the beautiful Sunken Garden. I even remember the name of the first classmate I became friends with.
teenAGE: What was the most memorable occurrence that year?
KM: Believe it or not being in detention at lunchtime because I forgot my Spanish textbook at home.
teenAGE: What would you tell your 11-year-old self now?
KM: Choosing Spanish (over French) definitely came in handy! (LOL). On a serious note, I wouldn’t change a thing. Those formative years made me who I am today.
teenAGE: What advice would you give to firstformers?
KM: Enjoy your youth. Don’t rush to become an adult but be mature in your thoughts and actions. Engage in outdoor/extra-curricular activities. They will teach you valuable lifelong lessons with the added bonus of maintaining a healthy habit which hopefully will stick with you for years to come. Don’t be afraid to try new things. Your mistakes now will make great learning lessons for the future. High school years are some of the best years you’ll have. Relish them, make the best of them and maximise all opportunities. It may not feel that way now, but looking back you will want to relive some of these times. Trust me!
