Germany 3 Rep of Ireland 0: Ozil and Schurrle ensure safe passage to Brazil for Loew’s men
Chelsea forward Andre Schurrle and Arsenal ace Mesut Ozil were on target as Germany booked their place at next year’s World Cup finals in Brazil.
Joachim Loew’s side took the lead after just 12 minutes when a terrible pass from Anthony Stokes in his own half gifted possession to Phillipp Lahm, who quickly found Sami Khedira and his shot took a wicked deflection off Ciaran Clark and wrong footed past David Forde.
Schurrle added the second after a wonderful chipped pass into the area from Toni Kroos found the Chelsea forward and he turned quickly before sliding his shot beyond the reach of Forde in the 58th minute.
Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil scored the third in injury time.
