Supreme Ventures renews racing sponsorship
SUPREME Ventures Limited (SVL) has renewed its sponsorship of the SVL Jamaica two-year-old horse racing series and, in conjunction with Caymanas Track Limited, announced the ninth running of the three-part challenge series for native-bred two-year-olds beginning in October.
The ultra-rich series is set to begin with the 9th running of the Cash Pot “Only One For Me” Trophy (Gr.III) going 1,200 metres for a purse of $2,950,000 on Saturday, October 19.
The second of the three races, the ninth running of the Pick 3 Super Challenge Trophy (Grade II) for a purse of $3,600,000, going 1,400 metres, will be run on November 30 with the 101 running of the Supreme Ventures Limited Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes on December 26, over 1,600 metres for the whopping purse of $4,250,000.
SVL will inject $6,500,000 to purses over the three race days, inclusive of a $1,000,000 bonus going to the owner
of the two-year-old who wins all
three races.
The announcement was made during a joint press briefing at the Courtleigh Hotel in Kingston yesterday, where CTL secretary of racing Denzil Miller Jnr outlined racing details while Sonia Davidson, vice-president of group corporate communications, handed over the sponsor’s crystal trophy to CTL Chairman Christopher Brown.
The native-bred three-year-old triple series races have become the most exciting for the futurity juveniles on the racing calendar, to the extent that they have been coined the two-year-old triple crown.
Racing Secretary Miller is expecting another exciting start to this year’s series 12 possible starters to include: Kick N Play (owned and trained by Lorenzo Robinson), Insane Bolt, Mom Rules, Santana, Liar Liar, Golden Bullet, Blade Runner, Gold Nut, Woman Is Boss; Queen Paula, Boy Wonder (owned by Thomas Pragnell); and Princess Popstar (owned by 2 Penyu).
