ST James’s Rush Riders took eight of 11 trophies at the second annual Bike Fest held at the Palisadoes International Raceway in Kingston last Sunday.

Their death-defying stunts earned them Best Overall Crew.

Troy ‘Oney’ Green led the group’s haul with two trophies, the Slowest Superbike Race and the Most Outstanding Rider.

“Rush Riders are the best in Jamaica. We do it last year… and we come back and do it again,” said Clifton ‘Buju’ Williams. The 23-year-old’s daring wheelie with a female companion lying face up on his super bike earned him the Most Creative Rider trophy.

Romond Gichie’s great showing was a “team effort”.

“We came with a plan and everyone executed well,” said Gichie, who secured the Best Tandem Stunt trophy.

Shayan ‘Shagga’ Ferguson and Damion ‘Dunga’ Hughes received the Longest Endo (riding on the front wheel only) and the Sickest Trick trophies, respectively. Hughes picked up his prize after flipping over his handlebar after coming to a stop.

Marlon ‘Crazy Cutter’ Fletcher was the sole combatant for Kingston. He said he was disappointed with the no-show of city-based stunt riders.

“It was an uphill battle for me alone to take on all the other crews. I had no help from my fellow Kingston riders,” he told Auto.

Fletcher, however, walked away with the evening’s Best Burnout trophy.

St Thomas’s Jerome ‘Grenga’ Shorter and Westmoreland’s Wes Bes Crew’s Elvis ‘Mad Dawg’ Stewart were also winners.

Event organiser Hemsley Berry said he was pleased with the turnout.

“Overall, it was unbelievable. The patrons came out in droves even though it rained. I thank everyone for their support,” he said.

“I want to say a big respect to the bikers.”
