Mr Cool plans to heat up dancehall

MR Cool is determined to make an impact in Jamaica’s dancehall arena.
The up-and-coming artiste was the only act to receive an encore at Full Black held at the New Mas Camp at the National Stadium on Sunday.
“Mi feel good about that. When mi reach the show only a few people knew me. But when me leaving, everybody know mi name,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
“People came to be entertained, not just to hear a song. If they wanted to hear a song, they would listen it on the CD,” he continued.
His humorous set included Talk To Me Alcohol and Dry Floss. Dry Floss addresses ‘flossing’ on a tight budget while the former chronicles is a conversation he and his drink are having.
“I learn from the top-flight acts like Michael Jackson, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Sizzla, and Professor Nuts then put my thing to it,” he said.
Mr Cool, whose given name is Dameam Carter and is in his early 30s, is from Manchester. He said he used to deejay while at Christiana Comprehensive High School but never took it seriously.
He said he encouraged by friends but got his break from Insight Record’s Jimmy Ricks who he has known since 2004.
Mr Cool, who said his moniker describes his style, said new releases should be out in the next couple of weeks. They include Rum and Anything with Beenie Man and Christmas Thing featuring Benji.
He said he is act is a work in progress as he intends to make it to the international stage.
“Hard work and perseverance is the key and I’m putting in the work,” he added.
