EMOTIONS ran high on the set of the video shoot for Mother’s Cry, the new song from former Magnum King and Queen of Dancehall winner Tellah.
The deejay says the song’s message hit home when the cameras began rolling.
“I’m a single mother raising three kids all on my own. Believe me, it’s not easy, that’s why I wrote this song,” she told the Jamaica Observer. “During a scene that I did with my son I got so emotional I couldn’t hold back the tears, I just had to let it all out.”
According to Tellah, since she recorded the song early this year she planned to do a video. She had no idea that it would turn out to be a tear-jerker.
“I had the concept for it in my mind all along, but I had no idea that making the video would be such an emotional experience for me. I am happy I did it and I hope when it’s released it will be an inspiration to all single mothers,” she said.
The video for Mother’s Cry was directed by Karl Durrant of Mediaville Productions. It is scheduled for release next week.
Tellah, who is in her mid-30s, won the Magnum King and Queen of Dancehall contest in 2010.
