Formula-1 drivers invite Usain Bolt to Finland for driving lessons
KINGSTON, Jamaica — After Usain Bolt expressed an interest in brushing up on his behind-the-wheels skills in an interview at the Moscow World Athletics Championships, Finnish Formula-1 drivers Valtteri Bottas and Heikki Kovalainen teamed up with AKK Motorsport, the Finnish Olympic Committee and Yle Sports to send a video invitation to the world sprint champion to do just that. Bolt’s video invitation.
In the two-minute-16-second video, Yle reports that the team has invited the sprint legend to join track tests in challenging winter conditions in Finnish Lapland next January.
“If you want to learn how to handle a car I think Finland is the perfect place, especially during winter when it’s slippery. We Finns know how to drive,” said Williams driver Bottas.
“Of course Bolt could be easy to teach in the sense that he has good reflexes and explosive power. He can probably take very fast corrective actions at the wheel,” added Heikki Kovalainen, who drives for the Caterham team.
Bolt is unstoppable and presently unbeatable on the running track but has had a few motor vehicle crashes in the past.
