CFU praises Jamaica’s success in CONCACAF Under-17 football
ST JOHN’S, Antigua (CMC) – The Caribbean Football Union (CFU) has congratulated Jamaica for their performance in the CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Tournament currently taking place on the island.
Jamaica enjoyed an unbeaten run before losing Thursday night’s semi-final match to Canada five nil at Catherine Hall Stadium.
A letter from CFU President Gordon Derrick to Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) captain Horace Burrell before the semi-final encounter, praised the Jamaicans, the sole CFU flag-bearer, for reaching the round of four.
“The members of the CFU join in wishing Team Jamaica the very best,” the letter stated.
“We are assured that while Jamaica might be small in size and accomplishments in women’s football, you are tallawah in heart and fight.”
It was the first time that Jamaicans had qualified for the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Under-17 girls tournament in three attempts.
They will now play the United States for third place on Saturday before Canada and Mexico clash in the final.
