Atkinson takes FINA 100m breaststroke gold in Beijing
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica’s Alia Atkinson won the women’s 100 breaststroke with ease at the Beijing, China leg of the FINA Swimming World Cup Wednesday, posting a time of 1:03.81, almost two seconds ahead of the second place competitor.
Sophie Allen of Great Britain finished second in a time of 1:05.74 followed by Xiaoyu Liu of China touching in a time of 1:06.24.
Atkinson has had excellent results in this year’s World Cup series twice breaking 1:03 in the 100m breast stroke, having posted a season’s best 1:02.91.
