Branson Centre goes Caribbean
Sir Richard Branson (centre) and entrepreneurs celebrate at the Branson Centre of Excellence-Caribbean in Montego Bay on Sunday. Branson said the planned expansion of the centre in the Caribbean, is as a result of the overwhelming demand of aspiring entrepreneurs for the services provided by the facility. “There are thousands more people who would like to be a part of the centre that we can’t cope with, and therefore we are going to increase the amount of the people who can participate in the centre, and the plan is to expand it here in Jamaica and other countries in the Caribbean,” he said. Under the planned expansion, the centre will in March start to accommodate additional recruits via its online virtual platform, along with offering some level of mentoring and training within the British Virgin Islands, Jamaica and two other islands in the Caribbean. The move will allow roughly 400 persons to access the programme in the Caribbean, which has so far accommodated 85 entrepreneurs. The Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship- Caribbean, a hub for aspiring entrepreneurs, offers business insight, training, networking and investment opportunities for entrepreneurs. It’s the latest expansion for the Branson Centre which began with a branch in South Africa in 2006. (PHOTO: ACEION CUNNINGHAM)
