TITLE-HOLDERS University Dynamites and Spanish Town Titans are joint leaders of the franchise-based Jamaica Premier League Twenty20 (JPL T20) heading into this weekend’s All Star break.

After the fourth and penultimate round of action last Sunday, the Titans moved to 12 points after a comfortable nine-wicket win over winless Ocho Rios Chargers (zero) at the Ultimate Cricket ground in St Ann.

Scores: Ocho Rios Chargers 104-7 (20 overs); Spanish Town Titans 108-1 (13.4 overs)

In the feature game at the Treasure Beach Sports Complex in St Elizabeth, the Dynamites pulled level with the Titans on 12 points after beating the MoBay Sixers (nine points) by five runs.

Scores: University Dynamites 150-6 (20 overs); MoBay Sixers 145-6 (20 overs)

In the opening encounter at Treasure Beach, the Kingston Hurricanes (nine points) blew aside the Mandeville Thunders (four points) by 22 runs.

Scores: Kingston Hurricanes 133-8 (20 overs); Mandeville 111 (19.2 overs)

The competition breaks this weekend for an exhibition All Stars game between a Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) XI and a Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) XI at the Treasure Beach venue today, starting at 1:00 pm.

Both teams will boast the top players currently competing in the JPL T20. Entry is free of cost.

The month-long JPL, which began in early November, is sponsored by the JTB, through the TEF, to the value of over $5 million.

The final preliminary round of JPL matches is scheduled to be played next weekend.

The top team at the end of the preliminaries and the winner of the second and third-place play-off match will contest the final.
