Police move to curtail violence downtown Kingston
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Police are moving to quell any further violence in the volatile downtown, Kingston community known as Spanglers.
Several people in the tough community and surrounding areas have been murdered in recent months and many others shot and injured.
The latest shooting incident took place on Matthews Lane on Monday when gunmen attacked a man.
“We are keeping a presence in the community and have already taken some persons in,” a cop who works in the Kingston Central Police Division said.
The police are also carrying several operations which they say will keep criminals on the back foot.
