Woman charged with murder, burglary and abduction
OCHO RIOS, St Ann — A 25-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the recent murder of retired postmistress Nathlee Hamilton and the abduction of her six-week-old grandchild in Beecher Town here in St Ann.
The accused, Dianna Pinnock of Epworth, also in the parish, is charged with murder, burglary and abduction.
Hamilton, 63, was stabbed to death in her home on November 11. Her grandchild, who was allegedly taken by her killers, was found in a bag along the roadside last week.
“After a series of extensive interviews and questioning of a number of suspects last (Monday) night, we have formally laid charges on Dianna Pinnock,” said Assistant Police Superintendent Throyville Haughton, head of the Ocho Rios police.
He said investigations were ongoing as other persons were being questioned in relation to the matter. “We are pretty sure that other persons will be charged in the matter,” ASP Haughton said.
Haughton yesterday commended his detectives at the Ocho Rios CIB, whom he said have put long hours into this case. “We will have closure to the matter sooner than later,” he said.
The Ocho Rios police met with Hamilton’s relatives yesterday morning and provided them with an update on the progress of the investigations.
Councillor for the Beecher Town Division Ian Bell yesterday praised the police for their work so far in the case.
