Call for entries
THE Institute of Jamaica (IOJ) is inviting entries for the 2013 National Exhibition for Art and Craft in Schools. All high, technical high, all-age, and junior high schools in Jamaica are eligible to submit entries for the exhibition from students age 12 to 18 years.
Entries for the art section of the exhibition (not more than 20 pieces from each school in this section) may be submitted in any medium of the following classes: painting, drawing, graphics, sculpture, collage, montage, photography, and animation.
In the craft category — again not more than 20 pieces — entries are accepted in leatherwork, metalwork, woodwork, weaving, ceramics, industrial arts and fabric of all types, including line block, screen printing, batik, tie-dye and macramé.
Entries must be accompanied with a letter from the school’s principal, declaring that the works submitted are the original and unaided work of the pupils. The deadline for all entries is December 30, 2013.
Judging will be done subsequently and the winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony to be held in April 2014. Works submitted will be exhibited in the Gallery at the Institute of Jamaica.
