ISSA Wata semis underway at Constant Spring
After starting alongside more than 45 schools and more than 70, three schools have managed to get two teams each into the semi-finals of the ISSA Wata Under-14 and Under -16 football competitions which get underway today at Constant Spring playfield.
Defending champions Wolmer’s Boys, Kingston College and St George’s College will be on show when the semis kick off with the Under-14s and then tomorrow with the Under-16s.
In today’s games, Kingston College will tackle Dunoon Technical at 1:30pm and then St George’s College will face defending champions Wolmer’s Boys at 3:00pm.
Tomorrow, defending U-16 champions Wolmer’s Boys take on St George’s at 1:00pm, and then Kingston College lock horns with Jamaica College at 3:00pm.
In the Under-14 category, Wolmer’s Boys and Kingston College were impressive winners of all three games in the second round. Kingston College were particularly outstanding as they did not concede a goal in the three games. St George’s College won two and drew one to remain unbeaten, while Dunoon Technical won one game and drew the other two.
Among the Under-16s, Jamaica College and St George’s College were perfect in the second round. Jamaica College had the biggest win of the round, a 6-2 trouncing of Denham Town. Both Kingston College and Wolmer’s Boys won two and drew one game to remain unbeaten.
With the Manning Cup now out of the way, most of these teams will be fielding some of the top talents who are eligible for both competitions.
