Nelson, Campbell brighten Colours win in Portmore T20 league
A good all-round perfomance from Ralston Nelson and national player John Ross Campbell helped Colours International defeat defending champions Bridgeview by five wickets in their Zone B encounter at Portmounts on Sunday during their opening match of the 2013 Wray & Nephew/Portmore Cricket Association Club T/20 Cricket Championship.
Scores : Bridgeview (112- all out from 19.5 overs); Colours International (113-5 from 13.5 overs).
Batting first, Bridgeview posted 112 all out from 19.5 overs. Jemarlie Harris led the way with a patient 27 and the only batsman to reach double figure against Ramon Senior (3-19) and Ralston Nelson (3-29).
In reply, Colours Internnational reached their target inside 14 overs, scoring 113-5. Nelson returned with the bat and blasted a superb 44 and Campbell (36) saw Colours International to victory.
West Indies batsman, Nkrumah Bonner, took 2-15 for Bridgeview.
The second match at the same venue between Washingtonn CC and Silver Stone was rained out.
Elsewhere in Zone B, Ken’s Wildflower crushed Belmount by seven wickets at Bridgeport.
Scores : Belmount 95-9 (18); Kenn’s Wildflower 96-3 (14).
At the same venue, the clash between Portsmouth and Gregory Park was called off due to rain with Portsmouth cruising at 140-5 from 12.3 overs when the heavens opened up.
In Zone A, beaten finalists GC Foster beat Reids Pen by 33 runs in a low-scoring game at GC Foster College.
Scores : GC Foster (85-all out from 18 overs); Reids Pen (52-all out from 14.3 overs).
The second match between Portmore Pines and Passage Fort was called off, due also to inclement weather, as well as the other zone A matches.
Round two matches starts this Saturday.
