Knibb, Spot Valley set to advance in ISSA/KFC basketball
MARTHA BRAE, Trelawny — William Knibb Memorial’s Under 19 team and Spot Valley high’s Under 16 team will both move closer to places in the semi-finals of the ISSA/KFC Western Conference high school boys’ basketball competition when they meet in a double header in Martha Brae tomorrow.
William Knibb are in second place in the Under 19 section on seven points from four games, one behind leaders Muschett High who have played the same number of games.
Spot Valley are perfect in the Under 16 section with eight points from four games played, well ahead of William Knibb who are at the bottom of the seven team standings.
On present form, William Knibb, who have won three straight games after losing their opening match are expected to win in the Under 19 game, while Spot Valley looks set to win their fifth game in the junior section.
Meanwhile on Tuesday, Spot Valley High and Herbert Morrison Technical split their double header played at Spot Valley High.
The home team handed Herbert Morrison their first loss in the Under 16 section, but were no match in the Under 19 section.
Jhamonique Brown scored 15 points for Spot Valley as they held on to beat Herbert Morrison 39-30. Brendon Dawkins led Herbert Morrison with 12 points and 11 steals.
Herbert Morrison established themselves early and ran away from the hosts to win 53-40, to chalk up their second win.
Kuwayne Waite and David Peck both scored 10 points each for Herbert Morrison, as Peck also got 13 rebounds.
Alwyn Newsome had 12 points for the Spot Valley team.
