All systems go for Tastee finals
THE set of the Tastee Talent Trail competition is getting a major revamp ahead of Thursday’s finals scheduled for the company’s Cross Roads car park in St Andrew.
“It’s all systems go,” said Abe Baracatt, production manager.
Show time is 7:00 pm. Ten finalists are vying for the grand prize of $1,000,000; second-prize winner will get $500,000, and third-place recipient will pocket $150,000.
Baracatt said the finals will feature 24 x 24-ft stage in addition to a catwalk.
The stage was enlarged by two feet this year to accommodate the six-member dance group Black Dice. Last year’s stage measured 22 x 22-ft.
Baracatt said that was not the only change.
“Sparkles Production will unveil a new state-of-the-art sound system which has recently arrived in Jamaica,” he said.
In addition to Black Dice, the other finalists are: Kerrian Miller, Johnell Mathews, Marshalee Guthrie, Dane Williams, Kevrol Diah, Jermaine Bryan, Dean McGowan, Elton Earlington, and Ricardo Barrett.
The judges are Michael ‘Ibo’ Cooper, Queen Ifrica and Kerry-Ann Lawrence.
Guest performers scheduled are Jamaica’s Michael Jackson, The Tastee 2012 top-three finalists Anthony Clarke, Ozana Lindo, Renaldo Meikle, and an upcoming singer Simple Rattigan.
Backing band will be the Unique Vision.
The event sponsors are Tastee, Pepsi, T-Shirt Express, Sparkles and Kosmo Tours.
