Red Light for Eddie and Snoop
ACTOR Eddie Murphy has sought the vibe of Reggae Grammy nominee Snoop Lion on a track for his upcoming album.
According to 3news.co.nz, the Beverly Hills Cop star recorded a reggae-flavoured single called Red Light with the converted rapper.
“We did a reggae song called Red Light. We shot a (music) video and put the single out. It was something that he wanted me to be on. And when he called me over the house it just blew my mind. I was like, ‘I’m at Eddie Murphy’s house!” Snoop told Queen Latifah on her radio programme last week.
Murphy is no stranger to the genre. In 1992, he recorded I Was A King with Shabba Ranks.
Snoop said he was a fan of Murphy.
“I’m a ’70s baby and I grew up in the ’80s and Eddie Murphy was the greatest entertainer in the world to us. He could do no wrong — his movies, his comedy, everything that he did. So when I had a chance to be around with him and work with him, I became starstruck and became ‘groupied’ out — but I couldn’t show him that!” he continued.
Snoop, who converted to Rastafari on a visit to Jamaica in 2012, was recently nominated for Best Reggae Album for his Reincarnation.
