Windies players boost Bridgeview in Portmore T20
WEST Indies pair of Nkrumah Bonner and Andre Russell produced star preformances to help defending champions Bridgeview defeat Ken’s Wildflowers by 32 runs during their Zone B encounter at Portsmouth in the 2013 Wray & Nephew/Portmore Cricket Association Club T20 Championship on Sunday.
Scores: Bridgeview (115-8 from 20 overs); Ken’s Wildflower (83 all out from 17.1 overs).
Batting first, Bridgeview piled up 115-8 from their allotted 20 overs, thanks to West Indies opener Bonner who led the way with a top-score of 43 from 36 balls. His knock included seven boundaries and a lone six, Shacoya Thomas chipped in with a patient 23, while middle-order batsman Russell blasted 21 to carry the defending champions to a respectable total on a flat wicket.
Oshane Wilson (3-19) and Antwain Stephens (3-19) were the best bowlers for Ken’s Wildflower.
In reply, Ken’s Wildflower got off to a devastating start and were bowled out for a mere 83 from 17.1 overs. Former West Indies pace bowler Daren Powell started the carnival when he bowled opener Glen Wellington (12) with a superb in-swing delivery at 1-21 before Bonner snatched three quick wickets with his slow wrist spin, which included former Jamaican captain Tamar Lambert (seven) to left the visitors struggling at 4-42.
Smallie Brown (16) tried to stable the run chase but was beaten for pace from a Russell delivery. The latter then removed Lascelles Davis (one) and Durin Lackie (one) to wrap up the Ken’s Wildflower innings.
Russell finished with three wickets for 20 runs, while Bonner had three wickets for 10 runs.
In the curtain-raiser, Colours International defeated Portsmouth by 74 runs to move atop of Zone B. Batting first, Colours International amassed 168-8 from their allotted 20 overs, with the in-form Ralston Nelson leading the way with a top score of 75 (52). Shane Brooks added 24, while Romeo Parker chipped in with 18 against Marlon Saunders (2-33) and Carlos Green (1-42).
In reply, Portsmouth got off to a strong start but were bowled out for 111 from 18.4 overs. Mario Bowner led the attact with a knock of 58 (45), Delbert Gayle (11) added some support as Nelson ripped through their innings claiming 4-21 and Aaronn Johnson 2-2.

Elsewhere, in Zone B at GC Foster College, Belmont CC defeated Silver Stone by 74 runs.
Scores: Belmont CC 129-9 from 20 overs (Roshane Bird 65, Craig Dawkins 3-21); Silver Stone 55 all out from 15.1 overs (Craig Dawkins 18, Damion Jacobs 3-14).
Also at the same venue Washington CC Defeated Gregory Park CC by 122 runs.
