ST ANN’s BAY, St Ann- Members of the St Ann’s branch of the Jamaica Public Service’s (JPS) Volunteers on Location To Serve (VOLTS) brought early Christmas cheer to residents of the infirmary in that parish through the recent donation of a much-needed refrigerator and refurbishing of the facility’s kitchen.

Matron of the St Ann Infirmary Sharmain Davidson said the donation was a big gesture.

“It shows that persons still care about the less fortunate,” an appreciative Davidson said.

At least 25 employees of VOLT also volunteered their time and service painting the boundary wall to the property.

“We are just trying to give back to the community and we decide that we would just give back to the infirmary,” explained JPS Parish Manager for St Ann Marvin Campbell.

According to Campbell, JPS opted to donating the items after contacting the infirmary to find out areas in which the company could assist.

Several employees from the JPS St Ann’s Bay branch also donated their time tiling and painting the facility’s kitchen.

Campbell explained that some of the funds used to carry out work at the infirmary were donated by employees.

“The real thing is to see how we can impact on the lives of persons here,” he told the Jamaica Observer North East.

Councillor for the St Ann’s Bay Division and member of the board at the infirmary Dalas Dickenson lauded JPS for being a good corporate citizen.

“Continue to be one of the supporters and sponsors of the infirmary,” he urged.

JPS St Ann’s Bay in celebrating the Christmas season also hosted a fun day at its St Ann’s Bay location for two schools on Friday. The students were treated to a day of fun in spite of heavy rains in the parish.
