THE Stone Love sound system held its 41st anniversary show Saturday night at Red Stripe Oval on Spanish Town Road.

Hundreds of fans showed up at the Guinness-sponsored event in which several Stone Love stalwarts were honoured.

Among the awardees were selectors Harry Hype and Marlon ‘Boom Boom’ Wizzard.

“This has been a great year for me and I am very appreciative of this award. It feels great to be recognised for the work that I have been putting in. The aim for the coming year is just to continue to assist the young artistes and producers in getting their music out there,” Boom Boom told the Jamaica Observer.

Some patrons were upset at the no-show of some leading acts including Mavado and Sizzla. They were billed to perform on the live segment which began Sunday morning.

By the time Ginjah and Fantan Mojah completed their stints, technical difficulties began to mar the production.

Singjay Alkaline was not affected by the glitches but left the stage after performing a few lines of his hit single Purple Touch. Angry fans demanded his return which he did briefly to do snippets of his song 123.

“Hey, unoo fix up Wee Pow sound yuh nuh an’ nuh mek mi cross, angry and miserable in ya,” Bounty Killer bellowed after his set was affected by the technical problems.

Among the songs he did were Eagle And the Hawk and Warlord Nuh Business.

Performances also came from John Holt, Cocoa Tea, LUST, Nitty Kutchie, Baby Chris, and NuKidz.

One fan, Marion Stephenson, was not impressed.

“We want back our money. This is a total rip-off… this wasn’t a stage show at all,” she said. “Not sure what went wrong this year, but the organisers failed to plan properly.”
