Four arrested in St Elizabeth on ganja, lottery scam charges
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – Four people were taken into custody on ganja and lottery scam charges after lawmen conducted several raids in St Elizabeth on Thursday.
Reports are that about 4:30 am the team of officers searched premises in New Town, and a man and a woman were arrested for Breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) (Special Provisions) Act after lottery paraphernalia were found in their possessions. A Honda CR-V that was on the premises was also seized.
Another premises was searched and a man taken into custody for possession of and dealing in ganja after a quantity of the weed was found in his possession. The illicit drug, which weighs approximately twenty 20 pounds, has an estimated street value of J$100, 000.
Hours later another operation was conducted at Santa Cruz in the parish, when a man was found with paraphernalia for scamming. He too was taken into custody.
The identities of these taken into custody have been withheld pending further investigations.
