Entertainers to run at ‘Gibson’
A relay team made up of entertainers will be part of the Masters Relays at tomorrow’s 38th staging of the Gibson Relays at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Well-known entertainers Mr Lexx, whose real name is Christopher Palmer, ‘Snagga Puss’ (Robert Davis), ‘D’Major’ (David Mills), Major Wanny (Kirk Stewart) and Anthony Redrose will comprise one of the several teams that will contest the event, said a release from Jamaica Masters Athletics Association.
“All members of the team are very conscious about a healthy lifestyle and said they were very happy to participate in the event,” the release stated, adding, “Snagga Puss and D’Major, who engage in regular workout at Stadium East, noted that when they learnt of the possibility of participating in the event, it was a no-brainer as this is consistent with our belief of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.”
Defending champions Big Brothers, with former Calabar High and Jamaican sprinter Daniel England, will be on hand to defend their title while other teams such as Ocho Rios Masters, record holders for the event; Express Masters; Elite Masters; Explosive Masters; Balance Masters; and Jamaica Masters will also take part.
Leo McEwan, president of the Jamaica Masters Athletics Association, said he was pleased that these entertainers would be a part of the Masters Relay at Gibson this year.
“Their involvement and endorsement can only result in more positive exposure for the masters message and I hope this is the beginning of a long and mutually beneficial association between both groups,” he said.
