Mission Catwalk Season Three Winner THEODORE ELYETT debuts at LFW
Mission Catwalk Season Three winner Bahamian Theodore Elyett’s Caribbean-Euro chic collection got rave reviews at the recently concluded Fashion’s Finest Emerging Designer Showcase at London Fashion Week A/W 2014. “It was a gratifying experience for the Mission Catwalk team” shared the show’s executive producer Keneea Linton-George minutes after the show, which took place Sunday last at Grand Connaught Rooms, 61-65 Great Queen Street Covent Garden. Elyett is the second winner of the popular Caribbean reality show to have been afforded the opportunity of presenting a collection at London Fashion Week. Season Two winner Gregory Williams had the honour last year, while Season 1 winner Shenna Carby unveiled her collection at Miami Fashion Week.
If Linton-George was ecstatic, Elyett was over the moon. “I feel that having the opportunity to showcase during London Fashion Week was a step in the right direction for my brand. This would be the first time that the eponymous label would make its way to a European catwalk, and I’m elated with the feedback I received from the UK press and show attendees. Ranked as “the best runway show,” at the emerging designer showcase, Fashion’s Finest, is a feat I won’t soon forget and it’s undoubtedly another accomplishment to add to my growing portfolio. I am immensely grateful for the opportunities presented to me via the vision of Mission Catwalk.
The elegant Bahamian is already in business mode “My next step is to present my A/W ’14 lookbook to select boutiques in The Bahamas and Jamaica. I have already made links with one boutique in Jamaica and two high-end boutiques in The Bahamas have also expressed interest. Additionally, amidst all of the preparation to take the runway showcase to retail, I will also be preparing for my upcoming summer studies at the prestigious London College of Fashion. Simultaneously, I will be engaged in the process of applying for internships with various fashion houses; luckily I forged some worthwhile contacts while in London who are eager to assist in my pursuit of interning with major brands like Antonio Berardi and Alexander McQueen.”
Hmmm seems Linton-George’s dream of using Mission Catwalk as a vehicle to propel the region’s fashion designers is slowly but surely gaining traction.
