A ‘St Bess’ stop for Lasco Reap
SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth — Using the theme, ‘Eat Locally, Think Globally’, the LASCO REAP School Tour made its last stop for 2014 at Goshen All-Age School in St Elizabeth.
A news release said a number of schools came out to join the host school by giving cultural performances, as well as participating in the tree planting activity. The students and the teachers were also treated to a variety of LASCO products.
LASCO REAP is an environmental programme that focuses on promoting recycling, conservation and tree planting activities among primary level schools.
Goshen is one of the 115 schools Islandwide involved in the LASCO REAP competition. It will be vying for the main prize package of computers and xBox games. Other sectional prizes will be provided by associate sponsor Sandals Foundation. Since the start of the LASCO REAP programme in October 2012, over 50,000 bottles have been collected, and 8,000 trees planted Islandwide.
Moneague Primary and Junior High emerged the winner of the inaugural LASCO REAP in 2012, the news release said.
