Jamalco volunteers hailed for making a difference
MAY PEN, Clarendon — Jamalco volunteers in 2013 helped to secure Alcoa Foundation grants of $8,508,300 (US$79,000) for local institutions including schools and hospitals, says Jamalco’s acting managing director (Corporate and Government Affairs) Leo Lambert.
According to a news release, Lambert recently told his audience at a cheque presentation ceremony that during 2013 close to 500 employees, their relatives and friends had given over 10,000 voluntary hours of service to their communities.
Lambert saluted the volunteers for helping to make a difference in their communities. “The projects that Jamalco has done are significant in their impact and should be lauded because they signify the involvement of our workers,” he said.
