Jamaica has earned congratulations from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for “reaching the milestone of an accountability workshop” under the Caribbean Growth Forum (CGF). Turner-Jones noted that “initial reaction to the CGF was scepticism as there was a lack of the value-added of CGF, especially in a country where public-private dialogue is vibrant. But now, there is validation just nine months after the launch, and we have concrete results.” The CGF is an initiative supported by Compete Caribbean, the IDB, the World Bank and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) in collaboration with the United Kingdom Agency for International Development (DFID) and the Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (DFATD). It aims to address the factors that hinder private sector development in the Caribbean and to identify policies and initiatives that contribute to growth and job creation in the region.
