Man chopped to death, woman injured in Papine Market

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A 50-year-old man was hacked to death early Monday morning and a female senior citizen chopped and injury by criminals at the Papine Market.

Police reports are that at about 2:00 am masked criminals entered the market facility through the roof and attacked the two.

The man identified only as Syril was chopped to death.

A 60-year-old female vendor was also chopped and stabbed during the attack but was able to escape.

“Vendors who were in the area reported hearing screams and raised an alarm,” said Venesha Reid, councillor for the Papine Division, who visited shocked vendors this morning.

Police are at this time investigating the matter.
