Tastee boosts KSAFA Under-17 football with $1.75 million
THE 2014 Kingston & St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Under-17 football competition has received a boost of $17.5 million from its main sponsor, Tastee, it was announced at a press conference at the offices of the Jamaica Football Federation on Monday.
Ryan Foster, Group Chief Financial Officer at Tastee Limited, stated that his company recognises the importance of fostering sports as a means to achieving community development, peace and social order and that returning as the main sponsor for this event was never in doubt.
“We see this venture as a continuation of the work being done in our school initiative, whereby Tastee currently operates 16 school canteens and contributes significantly to overall sports and welfare of school communities.
“It is ironic that many of the players currently participating in this tournament are currently being provided with nutritional support by Tastee Limited. We will continue to build life-long community relationships,” Foster said.
Other sponsors for the competition are Jamaica Yellow Pages, The Star and TVJ Sports Network.
This year’s Tastee/KSAFA Under-17 football competition will feature 27 teams, 12 Super 12 teams, seven from Zone A, and eight from Zone B.
The competition started yesterday with five games. Waterhouse lost 0-3 to Barbican at Drewsland; Brown’s Town lost 0-2 to Harbour View at Vauxhall; Tivoli Gardens and Molynes United ended goalless at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex; defending champions Cavalier blanked Cooreville Gardens 3-0 at Duhaney Park, and Boys’ Town defeated Mountain View United 2-0 at Collie Smith Drive.
