Need for Speed opens today
AUTOMOTIVE action movie Need for Speed opens at the Carib Cinema in St Andrew today.
The date was shifted from Wednesday, along with the car show coordinated by King Midas Mufflers.
The new date synchronises the opening with its North American counterparts.
“We were advised by Palace Amusement that the movie will now open on Friday and will be in 3D,” Paul Cole, managing director of King Midas Mufflers, told Auto.
Regardless of the date change, motoring fans can still expect excitement.
“The date has changed. The start time hasn’t, so things should start at 4:30 pm. All the major car clubs have been invited, but King Midas will have a 2013 Ford Mustang along with our booth,” said Cole.
Need For Speed, produced by DreamWorks Pictures, stars Aaron Paul. The plot follows the fresh-from-prison street racer, who was framed by a wealthy business associate, and who joins a cross-country race with revenge in mind. His ex-partner, learning of the plan, places a massive bounty on his head as the race begins.
Along with a Ford Mustang GT, the hero’s car from the movie, 2013 Dover Champion Andre Anderson’s Mitsubishi Mirage will also be on show. Cole will use the event to launch his company’s new line Exhaust Solutions.
“The brand consists of all the major sections of the exhaust system and can be used from basic repairs to full blown upgrades,” said Cole.
Patrons before, during intermission, and after the showing can take advantage of the giveaways while browsing the products.
New for King Midas’s 2014 staging is a videogame challenge.
“Online reviews of the movie have been good, so we hope this is the next big franchise for our passion,” said Cole.
King Midas has been putting on these events since the first instalment of Fast & Furious in 2001.
