Reshma Vaswani, managing director of Quality Energy Solutions. She is urging more Jamaicans to use Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs, which can cut their energy costs by as much as 40 per cent. The managing director of Quality Energy Solutions (QES), says LED bulbs provide more light with less energy usage. “The regular incandescent light bulb at home will burn between 60 to 100 watts, a florescent bulb will burn between 13 and 24 watts, while an LED burns only three to seven watts,” she said, adding that the LED bulb is over 90 per cent more efficient than an incandescent bulb, and over 60 per cent more efficient than the florescent light fixture. LED lighting also dramatically reduces the emission of heat and can adapt to fluctuations in power supply. Vaswani officially opened QES’s showroom ,located on Spanish Town Road in Kingston. The company, which was recently opened, provides a range of 100 lighting solutions, including chandelier bulbs and streetlamps, as well as energy-saving tools for refrigerators, and water heaters.
