PICA joins sponsors for Law Enforcement Torch Run
THE Passport, Immigration and Citizen Agency (PICA) is partnering with the Law Enforcement Agencies for the first time with a boost of $250,000 to host the Law Enforcement Torch Run 5K Walk/Run for Special Olympics Jamaica (SOJ), scheduled for April 26 in the Corporate Area.
Jennifer McDonald, chief executive officer (CEO) for PICA, said that joining and sponsoring the Law Enforcement Torch Run for SOJ was never a problem.
“This is the first time we are participating and contributing to this event. It is our social responsibility… we have persons in our organisation who were once with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and were involved in this event and they really explained what this event was about and we decided as a management team that this is something we would support,” McDonald told the Jamaica Observer.
McDonald also said that participating in events like this isn’t new, so they had no doubt coming onboard.
“We have a young staff and they love to do things like these. We have participated in the Sigma (Run) and I think that it is good for us as an organisation to show another side of what we do.
“We are not just at the borders allowing people in and out, but there is another side to the agency, as to get involved and interacting with people,” the CEO added.
“I think that this is a good thing, I think if we rally our staff together as a team and as a group it will be good for the people and we are here to help the people… it is a good rally and people will also see us with a different side. I think that this is a win-win situation for us also and we will be contributing towards a noble cause.”
