What they say! – Paul Francis
1. When did you start your career as a jockey?
I started my career as a jockey on 2002.
2. Which horse was your first winner?
My first winner came aboard LAC Choice, I came second and was awarded the race in the stewards’ room. It was a great feeling to win my first race even through it came by way of a disqualification.
3. Which horse was your longest odds winner?
My longest odds winner was the Michael McIntosh-trained Our Delight at 99-1 over the 1000 metres straight course. This horse should not have gone off at 99-1 but nevertheless I really did enjoy that win as the punters did not gave me a chance in the betting.
4. Which is the best horse that you have ridden?
I have ridden a few talented horses during my career but I would say Bruceontheloose. He is an outstanding race horse that could run any journey. Very versatile and talented horse, his racing record speaks for itself.
5. Which is the best horse you have seen race at Caymanas Park?
Saint Cecelia is the best horse that I have seen race at Caymanas Park. This mare was a champion, a real champion and it took a lot for others to beat her. She won the most consecutive races and won four consecutive Caribbean Sprint Championships. These are great achievements by a great horse.
6. Who influenced your career the most?
Friends, family, trainers, owners, fans, actually everybody has been there for me in my achievements. They supported and encouraged me a lot and for that I say thank you.
