Draw did little for Tivoli, Boys’ Town
TIVOLI Gardens’ chances of snatching a play-off spot were hampered after battling to a 0-0 draw with Boys’ Town at the Edward Seaga Stadium, yesterday.
On a windy day which affected the quality of play, both teams missed opportunities to score and it was a result that barely enhanced their position in their respective fight for the Red Stripe Premier League title and survival.
Tivoli Gardens inched to 36 points and stayed in fifth spot in their quest for top-four play-off spot, while Boys’ Town moved to 32 points to be just above the relegation zone in 10th on 32 points.
Tivoli Gardens are three points behind Arnett Gardens, who were slated to play Humble Lion in the late kickoff yesterday evening.
Tivoli Coach Glendon ‘Admiral’ Bailey was disappointed he didn’t get maximum points.
“When you play at home you always want to come away with the three points, but you see what home has been doing to us all season. So coming away with a point we just have to accept it,” said Bailey.
Bailey also lamented his team’s grave inconsistency that he believes has hampered their progress this season. In 15 home games, Tivoli Gardens have won just four times, drawn six and lost five.
Boys’ Town are hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone and, with just seven wins from 28 games and just one point above the wretched ares, coach Andrew Price is not perturbed.
