Henry’s ton leads Wolmer’s to Twenty/20 win over KC

SADIQUE Henry scored an unbeaten 101 off 50 balls to lead Wolmer’s to a 44-run win over Kingston College in the ISSA Twenty20 competition at Kingston College yesterday.

Henry, who was dropped twice, went on to punish Kingston College as Wolmer’s first posted a mammoth 202 for four from their allotted 20 overs, before restricting Kingston College to 158 for seven from their 20 overs.

Score: (Wolmer’s 202-4; Kingston College 158-7).

Hodane Bryce and Malik Thompson got the visitors off to a steady start before Bryce went via the run out for seven with the score at 38 for one. Thompson, who made 30, followed after he was caught off the bowling of Romario Hanchard to leave the score at 54 for two.

Shaun Tucker went for a duck when he got caught off the bowling of Oshane Wright with the score at 69 for three. The runs began to flow when Henry was joined in the middle by his skipper Denniel Griffiths and the pair took the score to 173 before Griffiths was bowled by Hanchard for 22.

Henry and Malcolm Whyte (14 not out) then saw off the remaining overs to take Wolmer’s to their daunting total. Romario Hanchard bagged two for 22 and Oshane Wright one for 26.

Kingston College in their reply lost openers Tevon Campbell, who was bowled by Suwayne Morrison for five, and captain O’brian Duncan, caught and bowled by Hakeem Williams for nine with the score at 22. Eight runs later Roberto Brooks was run out for two with the score at 30 for three before Williams had Jamie Haye caught for a first ball duck with the score at 35 for four.

Romario Hanchard got a life when he played one back to Williams, who couldn’t hold on. That chance seemed to have opened up the gates for Kingston College but it was not to be as Amir Dalley got the breakthrough when he trapped Oshane Wright in front for 32 with the score at 104 for five.

Stephen Stewart then left his crease and was run out for two to leave the score at 116 for six. Shavar Christie produced a late flourish with 12 before his stumps got disturbed by Amir Dalley with the score at 148 for seven.

Morrison and Dalley led the bowling with two wickets each.

The early Group Two game between Jamaica College and Jonathan Grant was reduced to nine overs per side due to the late preparation of the playing surface.
