XLCR score exciting six-run win over Eltham in T20 cricket
Excelsior High recorded their first win in the ISSA Twenty/20 cricket competition after an intense six-run win over Eltham High at Excelsior yesterday.
Scores: Excelsior 134-3; Eltham 129-8.
Excelsior first made 134 for three, after deciding to bat, with Orande Pearson topscoring with 42. Raewin Senior, 37, and Orlando Rowe were the not out batsmen. Three bowlers took a wicket each.
Eltham in their reply were restricted to 129 for eight, with Javion Brown, 26 not out, and Shaquille Brown, 25, the best scorers. Orlando Rowe, three for 33, and Keanu Marr, three for nine runs, led the bowling.
The early Group Two game between Ardenne and St Jago saw St Jago winning by eight wickets.
Scores: Ardenne 60; St Jago 62-2.
Ardenne were bowled over for 60 after deciding to bat. Dushane Carthy took three for 20 and Andre Fowler, two for three runs. St Jago then reached their target losing two wickets. William Thomas took both wickets for 13 runs.
In Group One action at Prison Oval, Wolmer’s recorded their second win when they defeated Jamaica College by 41 runs.
Scores: Wolmer’s 153; Jamaica College 112-4.
Jamaica College won the toss and inserted Wolmer’s, who could only manage 153. Sadique Henry continued his fine form when he made a topscore of 56, supported by Denniel Griffiths with 33, and Suwayne Morrison with 31. Renae Smith, three for 23, and Razzaq Williams, two for 12, led the bowling.
Jamaica College were only allowed 18 overs in their reply, after they were penalised for a slow over rate while fielding. They went on to make 112 for four, with Sherrick Davis and Courtney Dowdie topscoring with 41 runs each. Malcolm Whyte took all four wickets for 17 runs.
The other game saw Kingston College going down to Jonathan Grant by 18 runs.
