Reno look to rebound after midweek loss
RENO FC will look to rebound from their midweek defeat away to Barbican FC when they welcome leaders Jamalco FC to the Frome Sports Complex in today’s third round of games in the Jamaica Football Federation All-Island Confederation Play-offs.
In the day’s other clash, Barbican host Axum FC at the Barbican Complex in St Andrew. Both football games are set to kick off at 3:30 pm. Jamalco, based in Clarendon, have four points following a one-nil home win over Barbican and a 2-2 draw to Axum FC in St Mary.
Former national club champions Reno, who were 4- 0 winners over Axum before slumping to a 1-2 loss to Barbican, are in second place with three points.
Given Reno’s traditional tendency to dominate at their base in Westmoreland, the encounter could prove to be an uphill one for the lessheralded Jamalco.
Barbican, who got their first points of the play-offs in the comeback victory on Wednesday, are third with three points with a record of one win and a loss.
They trail Reno only on goal difference. Axum, with a loss and a draw to their name, have one point and are down in the cellar position. A victory today, however, could haul them back into contention for a first or second-place finish.
The top two teams at the end of this home-and-away round-robin competition qualify for top-flight football next season.
