1 - Campbell&rsquo;s entry, &lsquo;Hair So New&rsquo; in Saint<br />International&rsquo;s Avant-Garde Designer<br />collection in March, won rave reviews. 2 - Campbell<br />switches things<br />up with this<br />floor-length<br />leather dress and<br />Doc Martens<br />pairing. 3 - Floral detailing<br />was also found<br />within the print of<br />the fabric itself. 4 - More floral<br />detailing along the<br />hem and waist. But<br />Campbell cleverly<br />arrests the eye with<br />his use of a simple<br />sheer top.

A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS

Everyone knows the phrase, ‘there’s nothing new under the sun’. But it’s the truly innovative among us who can thrust us into the future by giving us a fresh take on the past. On Saturday, May 24, at the International Mecca of Style, local designer Kurt Campbell dazzled us with his retro-inspired collection of two-toned shirts, corduroy shorts and flower-embellished hems. The men’s and women’s lines were inspired by different seasons (summer for men; spring for women), but both shared an ode to the playful glamour of recent times past while signalling a future where standout embellishments and individual expressionism will be a mainstay of fashion. Campbell was at the centre of the Saint International-hosted event, and SO takes you into his orbit.

1 – Floral arrangements along<br />the waist and hemlines<br />were a prominent feature<br />in Campbell’s collection for<br />women. Here, flowers are<br />prominently arranged<br />across the bodice. 2 – A classically inspired A-line<br />dress offset by black cuffs<br />and collar and embellished<br />with gold buttons around the<br />waist and neck. Note the<br />gold-mesh eye mask. 3 – Spring was a heavy influence for Campbell’s women&rsquo;s<br />collection.
The Shabba Ranks era ofdancehall was a hugeinfluence for his men’scollection.
