SUMMER SNAXX
THE end of another school year filled with ups and downs is just over the horizon, meaning that teens across the island are now thinking of ways they can make their summer fun. There is certainly a lot more freedom to enjoy more of their favourite activities. Always looking for ways to help our fellow teens, teenAGE has decided to roll out our latest feature entitled Summer Snaxx, where we highlight a few “quick fixes” that can be prepared in those instances when you just want something to munch on throughout the day (or night).
Today, we will create easy and delicious refreshments. Please ask an adult for help with each step.
Fruit-sicles or Fruit-cubes
Ingredients:
– Fresh fruits
– Any juice or drink
Tools:
– Popsicle moulds, cups or ice trays
– Popsicle sticks, spoons or toothpicks
– A sharp knife
– A cutting board
Step 1: Prepare fruits by washing, peeling and chopping them into cubes.
Step 2: Fill 3/4 of each popsicle mould or cup with fruits. For ice trays, place only one to three pieces of fruit in each cube (depending on the size of the cuts).
Step 3: Pour juice or drink into each mould, leaving adequate space for the liquid to expand.
Step 4: Insert the popsicle sticks into the moulds. Place moulds into the freezer and freeze overnight.
If you intend to use ice trays:
– Wrap each tray with plastic wrap before inserting each toothpick. This will aid in making each fruit-cube more presentable.
We would love to hear from you teens. Please send us a picture of your attempt at this week’s recipe to coc.teenage@gmail.com. Include your name, school and age for a chance to be featured in the paper.
